Milivoj Uzelac Jr. presents the direction of the Altron Modular Division. It will target foreign markets

Insider

Foreign markets are a long-term challenge for Altron to expand its range of services. Milivoj Uzelac Jr. has plenty of experience with them. For the last twelve years he has managed the Altron branch in Dubai, with which he has managed to implement significant data center projects across the region.

The idea of a standardized and quickly delivered solution proved to be the right way for foreign markets. Altron Modular is centered around the idea to develop modular prefabricated data centers.

Modular data centers offer great potential for Altron. Is that one of the reasons why your division was formed?

The AM division was established due to the growing global demand for fast turnkey solutions for modular prefabricated data centers.

Our company has been addressing this demand for 17 years. We now have more than 20 reference projects in the CEE and MEA regions worldwide. Until 2022, we did so on a project basis. However, on April 1, 2022, we decided to switch to a product basis.

Altron’s know-how is best demonstrated in the field of DC design, construction and operation. However, it is a product difficult to expand. That is why we have chosen to concentrate our know-how in the production of our own products in the AM division as the appropriate product for foreign markets.

The division will focus mainly on the foreign market. What led you to this decision?

The market for data centers in the Czech Republic is limited by the size and legislative restrictions that discourage large global players in the DC field from entering. Combined with the growing competitive environment in the field of integration, foreign markets have always posed a challenge in terms of meeting the ambitions of growth. We now have a product with which we can compete for DC supplies on world markets.

Does this mean that your Czech clients will remain with the parent company Altron, as has been the case so far?

For 30 years, Altron has been helping companies and organizations implement large data center projects. Thanks to its knowledge of the Czech market and environment, it will obviously remain the main supplier for Czech companies.

What are the key products and technologies for your division?

Our product is integration ability. We select the appropriate technologies, we are able to integrate them into functional units in the form of modular data centers. An integral part of MDC is a comprehensive package of services with optimization of costs and operating parameters. Another important component is software monitoring and remote monitoring service, which is especially important for foreign markets.

Our priority is EDGE DC (formerly Mobile DC), a sophisticated container data center solution with excellent physical security, high performance and operational efficiency.

We are also preparing a product for the larger Core DC (formerly Prefab DC), which is an innovative way of building data centers using prefabricated modules assembled into a reliable system.

The smallest member of the product family is Stack (originally Micro DC) – an alternative to the classic server room with one rack.

In addition to products, we also offer services such as consulting, design capacity, project management, construction and implementation activities, commissioning, warranty and post-warranty service.

Modular data centers are characterized by high mobility and speed of delivery. In which segments will your products find the most use?

Our primary focus is on power components, where our solution offers robustness, security by design, all in immovable modules.

Another interesting segment is cloud and colocation service providers, which, thanks to modular data centers, are able to immediately meet customer needs, reaching them for fast ROI and scalability.

The industry chooses modular data centers in order to save space, which can be used for the primary purpose of the building, due to the fact that IT is segregated.

You also have experience with government-level organizations around the world. What is the key to success in this market?

It is important for the government segment that container data centers require simpler approval processes and less demanding legislative status (a modular data center is often not considered a building). Another great advantage is a simpler implementation process and less cooperation with other departments.
