POS Media Europe is a media company that has been active in the European market for more than 15 years and specializes in advertising at the point of sale. The Group is the exclusive partner of twenty of the most successful European retail chains and cooperates with the top 100 advertisers in each country. POS Media Europe group currently consists of companies POS Media in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and Russia.

Starting Position

IT across the group was formed in a decentralized manner using the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server in each country (branch), where the company operated. With regard to long-term development and expansion of their customer base, they needed to change the course of their IT environment to flexibly respond to current needs and to improve their unification across the group. The final solution was based on the requirement of consolidating IT across the group into one unit, which would provide central user management, centralized e-mail and instant messaging services, centralized set permissions and the ability to access documents, distributing documents (files) across the group and secure centrally managed backups.

ALTRON Solutions and Services

ALTRON delivered a complete solution to the customer in the form of ICT outsourcing its core to a cloud environment with integrated services in Microsoft Office 365 and Lync communication applications (Skype for Business). IT services provided by the cloud are located in a secure ALTRON datacentre, where there are redundant domain controllers to Windows Server platform that provides directory services for users and their stations. An important part of the solution is also running a Microsoft SQL Server database, which is used for internal (such as SAP and SharePoint) or external merchandizing applications. For effective collaboration and communication, a central Intranet on Windows SharePoint Services was created, which enables the efficient exchange of documents not only within the company but also with business partners.

Availability of reliable data files in all locations was provided by a Distributed File System (DFS) on a Windows Server platform. In each branch one physical server is located, serving as a central replica of the distributed file system providing accelerated distribution of files over a WAN. The server also ensures the availability directory services, file and print services data even in case of power corporate networks. Fortinet’s FortiGate solution was chosen to secure branches and the headquarters, enabling the secure interconnection of networks via encrypted VPN into a single unit and allowing the user to filter Internet content. Microsoft Office 365 was used as a messaging solution, which is connected to a centralized user management and SSO. The solution includes complete protection against viruses and spam while ensuring the continuity of business services through e-mail Geocluster datacentres. The ALTRON cloud environments is based on VMware vSphere, a powerful enterprise server and storage unit, ensuring high availability and good scalability of the entire solution. Benefits and Advantages

Migration from the previous decentralized management cloud service operated by ALTRON gave the customer a total solution to their ICT infrastructure with comprehensive support, without the need for custom solutions with clear costs based on a monthly basis. Consolidation of messaging solutions to the cloud allowed the group to use advanced features for cooperation in all areas and thus accelerate and simplify business communications. Collaboration capabilities allow employees of POSmedia uninterrupted and secure access from anywhere, anytime. With easy access RPC / HTTPS, it is not required for e-mail services to use VPN, and support for mobile devices is a given. Data was also unified from all locations into a single system, thus increasing the security of data through a centralized backup datacentre.
